Just in case you have noticed we have recently changed our name from
Olympic Controls to Olympus Controls.
Believe it or not, the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) demanded
that we change our name. Because of our Northwest roots we choose the
name Olympic to affiliate ourselves with the formidable mountain range
located in our backyard. But, apparently the USOC determined we were in
violation of the Olympic Armature Sports Act, 36 U.S.C and Lahham Act,
15 U.S.C and requested that we drop the word Olympic in our company name.
They even threatened civil action against us unless complied with their
demands.
After spending more money that what we considered reasonable we came
to the conclusion that spending additional time and resources to fight
this was unwarranted. To minimize the impact on name equity and brand
awareness that we had developed for almost 10 years we decided to change
the company name from Olympic Controls to Olympus Controls.
Don't worry, even though it is a new name there are the same people
standing behind the company. As always, we are committed to exceeding
your expectations when it comes to machine automation products and services. |
